These engagements allow me to apply my expertise to real-world challenges to bridge policy, practice, and ethics.
Editorial Responsibilities
Accountability in Research: Together with David B. Resnik, Zubin Master, Alison Antes, Sam Bruton, Kelly Laas, Kirstin Matthews, and Toby Schonfeld, I am an associate editor of the journal (see more).
Research Ethics Forum: Together with Marcin Waligora, we co-edit Springer’s Research Ethics Forum book series (see more).
Advisory Activities and Board Memberships
Ethics & Integrity in Research LLC: Through “Ethics & Integrity in Research,” I provide specialized services in professional ethics and research integrity, including ethical guidance, compliance support, and professional ethics training for academic, non-profit, corporate, and institutional partners. I can assist you in developing codes of conduct, ethical guidelines/statements, navigating emmerging situations especially those involving the impacts of artificial intelligence and complex ethical dilemmas.
World Conference on Research Integrity: In August 2025, I was invited to join the Lancet-WCRIF Commission on Research Integrity to offer actionable evidence-based policy advice to relevant stakeholders on how to improve research integrity.
Advarra: Since May 2025, I am a member of the “The Council for the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Clinical Trials” at Advarra for a two-year term. The goal of this council is to ensure AI enhances trial quality, efficiency, and equity.
Springer Nature: In February 2025, I joined Springer Nature’s “US Research Advisory Council (USRAC)” for a term of two years. Council members share opinions and experiences related to research and how research contributes to a better and more equitable society.
International Science Council: I have been a member the International Science Council’s Global Roster of Experts since October 2024. As part of this role, members provide ad-hoc science advice to the UN Secretariat and Member States, develop policy briefs, contribute to statements that amplify the voice of the global scientific community and potentially speak at high-level debates and policy forums.
APPE: In 2024, I was elected to join the Association for Professional and Practical Ethics (APPE) as a board member for a five year period. I am currently the secretary of the board, and co-chair the Outreach and Engagement Committe.
GYA: In 2023 I was selected to join the Global Young Academy (GYA) for five years. Between 2023 and 2025, I co-led the GYA’s Trust in Scinece workgroup and represented the GYA in various events.
National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine: Since 2023, I am a member of the Credit and Accountability working group of the Strategic Council for Research Excellence, Integrity, and Trust at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
NISO: As a long time CRediT enthusiast, I am a member of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) CRediT Standing Committee since 2022.
