Welcome to my page!
I am Mohammad, an assistant professor of Preventive Medicine (Biostatistics and Informatics) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. My work focuses on ethics and integrity in research, especially regarding the use of artificial intelligence, attribution of credit and responsibilities in scientific collaborations, and open science.
I serve as an editor for Accountability in Research and the Research Ethics Forum book series. I teach on various topics related to research ethics and integrity (in biomedical sciences, humanities, and social science), responsible use of artificial intelligence in research and publications at Northwestern University and other institutions. In attempting to expand the impacts of my work beyond academia, I engage with industry (e.g., I am a member of Springer Nature’s US Research Advisory Council and Advarra’s AI Ethics Council), and frequently communicate my work with the public through blogposts, news features, op-eds and podcasts. As a researcher and educator, I advocate for ethical research practices, and encourage researchers to anticipate risks, uphold integrity, and consider social and environmental impacts of their work.
As a member of the Global Young Academy and an academic nomad who has lived, studied and worked in various countries, I collaborate with colleagues regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, location, religion and personal beliefs. So whether you are on the right, left or center of any spectrum or belief system, as long as you are respectful and want to share and debate ethical issues, I love to hear and learn from you.

Depending on availability of funds and time, I try to join as many events as possible to learn and meet colleagues. Below you can see the forthcoming four:
